Well, repeating this to my friends on MSN Messenger was obviously not enough for me. Now, I was browsing Wikipedia earlier today. Somehow I got from Seth Rogen to Guitar Hero, but hey, that's just how Wikipedia is. So I was browsing, and noticed the future sequels of it. 'Drum Villian, Keyboard Hero, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith' and I happen upon another sequel in the works. Guitar Hero: Metallica. I immediately both creamed my pants and stormed up a fit of rage.

Sure, I'd love to play some of my favourite Metallica songs on rhythm instrument-based games such as Guitar Hero or Rock Band, but this works differently for other people. For instance, I had been a fan of the Guitar Hero franchise for quite some time, well before the release of the 3rd one. I even went through the trouble of purchasing the game the day it was released in my area. From Wikipedia earlier I had discovered my favourite Metallica song of the time to be included in the game, which was One from ...And Justice For All. I played it a few times with a friend and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Then I discovered that the game had an appeal to a large base. It swept society internationally by storm and was awesome blah blah blah. This is when I, while not alone, had noticed and learned to despise the 'Guitar Hero bandwagon'. These people would announce themselves as fans of the band from playing the single song they heard for the first time over and over. I, a very big Metallica fan, had had the following conversation on numerous occasions:

Someone else: Hey, you've got a Metallica shirt.
Me: Yeah.
SE: I like the song 'One' and 'Enter Sandman'.
Me: Is that so? I personally like multiple songs of their 80's works.
SE: I can play One on expert.

That exact conversation developed into a Godwin-esque scenario. Should 'One' or 'Enter Sandman' be brought up into discussion, I simply have it killed. These people, who give no effort whatsoever to actually look into the band and their songs and just declare themselves fans truly anger me so. If the songs on your iPod or MP3 player include Enter Sandman and/or One and no other Metallica songs, please kill yourself now and save me the trouble.

Sure, including a band's song or songs into a Guitar Hero/Rock Band game will gather notability for the band, it's preferably a lot better without. I don't mind not being able to hear, see and play my favourite songs on a television screen, but much rather on an air guitar or real instruments. I mean, it's hard for me to even listen to One anymore, I simply can't do it. All that goes through my head is rage shown towards other people who ruined this song. I swear, when this happened it felt like I had my own child die right in front of me. With the expected release of Guitar Hero: Metallica, and the expectancy of the songs suffering the same fate as One, it will feel like my entire extended family DYING.

Sure, I shouldn't hate people for playing a video game or liking a certain song, but the simple ignorance and complete disregard for the entire band itself disgusts me. I hope you, the reader, are not one of these people. However, if you are, there is still time to repent. Go forth and make yourself a better Metallifan. Thank you.
